Skilled Nursing Care

Our nurses are experienced with managing pain; they work closely with our hospice providers to develop a plan of care to provide patients with control of their pain as much as possible.

Our nurses are experienced with a multitude of nursing care. 

For examples:

• if a patient has urinary retention, our nurses can do intermittent catherizations or place indwelling foley catheters
• if a patient needs tracheostomy care, then our nurses can help provide this care to reduce the risk of infection
• if the patient has wounds that need wound care, our nurses can provide wound care, including dressing changes and wound cleaning / debridement
• if the patient has significant swelling in the legs, anxiety and agitation, shortness of breath, and so on, our nurses are trained to identify uncontrolled symptoms, so that they can work with our hospice providers to get the symptoms better managed

Sometimes, it can be extremely difficult emotionally for the patients at end-of-life. Our nurses work closely with our hospice providers, chaplains, and social workers to help patients with their mental health.

For many patients, spiritual care is as important as all aspects of care. Our nurses will screen for any spiritual needs regularly, and they will work with our chaplains to provide patients with spiritual support, if needed.

Our nurses will work with the patients and their caregivers. Our nurses want to make sure patients' caregivers are doing okay. They may consult our chaplain or social workers, as needed, to provide caregivers with help.
